Rubbish is collected from each landing every day except Sunday.
Concierges transfer the rubbish from each landing bin to the large containers in the bin store outside. To enable this to be done efficiently, safely and hygienically the following rules need to be followed:
Everyday Refuse
- All rubbish must be put in tied leakproof bags into the large container in the refuse cupboard on each landing. This includes non-recyclable packing materials and shredded paper.
- Particular care must be taken with pet waste and nappies.
- Large items should not be put in the bin store.
Recycling
- Items that can be recycled in Tower Hamlets can be found on their web site.
- Tower Hamlets have a Reuse and Recycling Centre on Yabsley Street, E14 9RG where residents can take large items for disposal.
- Items should be reasonably clean and dry and should be put into the recycling bags in the refuse cupboards.
- Small cardboard boxes should be flattened into manageable pieces.
- It would be helpful if residents could take large cardboard boxes and leave them by the bin store, preferably flattened.
